Information security policy is an essential component of a strong security program. Security policy should express the fundamental security structure of the organization defining roles and responsibilities, rules of behavior for users, and all other directives, rules, and practices pertaining to the organizations management, protection, and distribution of information.
Over time policies and procedures may become inadequate due to changes in business processes, threats, compliance requirements, environment, or infrastructure.
